The Washington Design Center kicks off the 2012 Capital Design Lecture series with acclaimed interior designer and Bravo’s Million Dollar Decorator Martyn Lawrence Bullard and Susan North, Schumacher’s Senior Vice President of Design & Creative Director on February 21st at 11am. The panel discussion themed “The Road to Landing a Licensed Fabric Collection “ will focus on the process of developing a designer fabric collection, from concept to line launch. DC Modern Luxury Magazine Editor in Chief Karen Sommer Shalett will moderate; and the conversation will be followed by a book signing with Mr. Bullard and lunch in the Schumacher showroom. This event is open to the trade only.
The Capital Design Lecture Series is the Washington Design Center’s top design event, featuring monthly lectures with design celebrities, showroom events and luncheons on the third Tuesday each month. Highlights this year include The Outdoor Day of Design on March 20, featuring a panel discussion with landscape architects, interior designers, and event planners who will talk about the creative possibilities associated with planning an al fresco space that is a glorious extension of the modern home. The morning lecture will be followed by a CEU event at Donghia with Maya Romanoff, whose wallpapers are art in themselves.
On April 17, design diva Charlotte Moss will talk about her work and all the things that inspire it. Her collections can be found at Fabricut and Century. The May lecture will explore the synergy between fashion and home design with Luca Missoni of the Missoni Brand available at Stark Carpet. June will feature Suzanne Kasler, whose work can be seen through her creative designs for Lee Jofa and Hickory Chair.
