Rag&Bone DIY DC

Fresh from an acclaimed New York Fashion Week showing, Rag & Bone managing partners Marcus Wainwright and David Neville celebrated the opening of their first US store outside of New York on September 13, 2011 with a private reception and unveiling of the DC DIY Project.

More than 200 stylish Washingtonian’s attended the Georgetown opening to meet the designers and to witness the unveiling of the DC DIY Project. Having been inspired by real people, rag &bone originally launched the DIY Project in January 2011 in New York with four models that styled and shot their own photos in rag & bone clothing.  The project re-launched again this fall with Karolina Kurkova and Carolyn Murphy and is an ongoing initiative for the brand.  In conjunction with the Georgetown opening, rag & bone hand selected Washingtonians with great style to photograph themselves in pieces from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection for a local spin on the DIY Project.

“Rather than do what every other brand does and have a high-end photographer take very polished shots, we thought, ‘Let’s flip it on its head to get the people to take over.’ We wanted it to be very real”, said Wainwright. The DIY Project reflects the brand’s ethos showing real people in understated and wearable clothes during their real, everyday lives.
